How to make your calling and election sure.

Bonnie

_______________

Bonnie,

In order to answer your question directly, and without writing a short research paper, the answer to your question is found in thoroughly understanding two different passages: 2 Peter 1:5-12 and D&C 88:67-68.

The epistles of Peter provide us with the necessary virtues we need in order to become fruitful in the knowledge of our Lord. These are faith, virtue, temperance, patience, knowledge, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity. As a woman I think it important to note that these also correlate with the young woman values as provided by our prophets.

The more we add unto ourselves these virtues, and our knowledge grows in more light and truth, we then can connect D&C 88:67-68, which explains as our whole body, our whole eyes, are filled with light, then we may have the possible experience of being visited by our Lord and Savior.

Each step complements the other. Faith increases the light in our eyes. Patience increases the light in our eyes. Knowledge increases the light in our eyes. As we continue to the increase light and truth, the more possible it becomes for us to obtain our calling and election made sure.
