Will celestial beings create spirit children in the same way they are created here upon the Earth? Will it be part of the duties of Angels to assist in rearing these millions of spirits?

Anon, from England

Dear Anon,

Although there is no scriptural reference to a Mother in heaven, yet it is a part of LDS doctrine. The last half of the third verse of the hymn, “O My Father,” says, “In the heav’ns are parents single? No, the thought makes reason stare! Truth is reason; truth eternal tells me I’ve a mother there.” From there we must draw our own assumptions. As far as angels helping to rear the spirits–pure speculation. I imagine that exalted, eternal parents are capable of rearing their offspring.
