Question

Dear Gramps,

I have 8 year old twins from my previous marriage. My first husband was not a member of the Mormon Church and is deceased. My new husband and I will have them sealed to us as soon as the legal adoption goes thru. My question is when they are sealed to us is their linage in the eyes of God changed to their new father’s line? I have heard several different response’s to this question, but I am not able to find anything in scriptures about this. Thanks

Lynda

Answer

Dear Lynda,

And you won’t find anything in the scriptures about this. When your twins are legally adopted by your new husband are sealed in the temple to their parents, they will be yours (you and your new husband) for eternity. They will be legally members of the family into which they have been adopted in mortality, and will eternally be members of the family to whom they have been sealed in the temple by the power of the holy priesthood.
