Dear Gramps,
The above scripture (Moses 6: 59)reference seems to be divided into two parts, the first to do with Adams physical creation, the second, the need for a spiritual rebirth (baptism etc). Why in the first part does it mention Blood when blood didn’t exist in Adam’s body until the fall? Do the words “born into the world” perhaps, refer to his becoming mortal?
Thanks, David

Dear David,

At the beginning of Moses, Chapter 6 were are given the genealogy of Enoch.  He was of the lineage of Adam through his son Seth.  Enoch was called of the Lord to preach repentance to the people.  Enoch questioned why he was called as he did not feel qualified.  As was the case with Moses, Enoch was slow of speech, he was young and probably felt that he was not adequate to preach to the people the word of God.  The Lord gives Enoch a great promise as recorded in Moses 6, saying:  “32 And the Lord said unto Enoch: Go forth and do as I have commanded thee, and no man shall pierce thee. Open thy mouth, and it shall be filled, and I will give thee utterance, for all flesh is in my hands, and I will do as seemeth me good.”  Enoch was commanded to preach repentance to the people, which was not a popular thing to do, but he Lord promised him that he would be protected and Enoch would be given what needed to be said.

In preaching to the people Enoch tells them that the Lord told Adam it was well his children:  “know good from evil; wherefore they are agents unto themselves…”, but they must repent for no unclean thing can dwell in the presence of God.  The Lord commands Adam to teach his children the following, which is recorded in Moses 6:  “59 That by reason of transgression cometh the fall, which fall bringeth death, and inasmuch as ye were born into the world by water, and blood, and the spirit, which I have made, and so became of dust a living soul, even so ye must be born again into the kingdom of heaven, of water, and of the Spirit, and be cleansed by blood, even the blood of mine Only Begotten; that ye might be sanctified from all sin, and enjoy the words of eternal life in this world, and eternal life in the world to come, even immortal glory; 60 For by the water ye keep the commandment; by the Spirit ye are justified, and by the blood ye are sanctified;”  In other words verses 59-60 is what the Lord commands Adam to teach his children.  Adam’s children were in fact born of the water, blood and spirit.
