I have been curious about calling and election. When this happens is there an ordinance in the temple? Do you get to meet the Savior in person?

Beau,

In John 14, Christ explains in detail that those who are faithful to his words will recieve a visitation from himself and Heavenly Father. Whether this refers to the calling and election, I’m unsure. There’s a good reason for that too.

Pearls MormonYou see, when we are given spiritual experiences, they are primarily for our personal benefit and enlightenment. It has been said that we ought not ‘cast our pearls before swine’, meaning we need to treasure the great spiritual lessons we have in this life. Said another way, we need to recognize the great spiritual experiences in our lives for what they are, and treasure them. As we do so, greater spiritual experiences will follow according to our faith in, and obedience to Jesus’ teachings.

Regarding the calling and election, this is a momentous spiritual experience, and surely one that would be best kept private for those who have experienced it. As such, there is not much information available about the details of how, where, or when it happens (beyond the fact that Christ promises it will happen to those worthy of it, as with any other blessing we recieve in life).

For myself, I know it has happened. I know it occurs this day, and I know it will occur in the future. If I should be counted worthy of that experience, I will likely be humbled beyond belief, but it has not happened to me yet. I have been so richly blessed already in my life, I don’t see much room for more, though I’m sure Heavenly Father sees things far better than I.
