What does a double edged sword mean?
usaboy
Dear usaboy,
A single-edged sword has one sharp edge and one dull edge. It can only slash and slice, not stab. The blade of a double-edged sword has two sharp edges and is ideal for both slashing and stabbing. Ehud son of Gera (Judges 3:12-31) made himself a double-edged dagger which he hid under his clothes. In Paul’s day the Roman legionaries carried a gladius, which is a double-edged short sword, and to which the Epistle to the Hebrew most likely is referring.
I hope this helps,
