It's true you are the company you keep, so if your company (meaning any group you spend time with) swears with ease as if it was part of their every day vocabulary, you need a new hang out. The times like work where you cannot select what you hear, you can demonstrate a proper verbal example by avoiding repeating the vulgar terms. Easier said than done. My son swore given his mental illness as freely as the wind blew, unfortunately, because I had to care for him 24/7 (literally), I picked up what he was saying and if I wasn't careful, I'd swear too. I had to really repent and pray for Heavenly Father to help me remember not to swear. It helps if you're stressed or angry to start singing (in your head if you're with others, out loud if alone) a hymn or child's song to break that awkward 5 seconds of decision making or breaking of the desire to be more like Christ. Choose the Right ALWAYS.

It really depends what your heart says. I don't think it's good to do this frequently either. Its obvious we do not have a peaceful mind when we do that - I would pray for comfort and forgiveness. Strive to become perfected
