Now I know this is not Church doctrine... but there have been LDS people of late that have had visions upon this very subject. Parts of these visions have repeated what Prophets of the LDS church have had in the past.. i.e. John Taylor and Wilford Woodruff.

Only in these days.. the vision has been expanded. You can take it... or leave it. I just find it interesting.

Two Prophets

"It was at this time that two prophets were called in Zion to go and alter the course of the Jewish people. I knew who they were at the time, but I have not retained that memory. I believe they were members of the Quorum of the Twelve who were then serving in Zion. I know that they studied their mission via the portal in the temple, and they were prepared for their mission and their sacrifice. They left with great courage, knowing that their task was pivotal and that it would cost them their lives. They were ordained by Jesus Christ himself to this great calling before a large assemblage in the temple, and then they departed from our sight through the portal."
