I had a similar discussion on my mission. I asked my mission president about it who told me that there were differences, quite a bit actually but the reason why makes sense and does not prove the Book of Mormon false. There are many differences in wording because of the printing process. The printer would look at Joseph's manuscript, quickly memorize as many words as possible, go over to the printer and put in each letter one at a time into the printer until the page was done. Thus errors came about because the printer got phrases and words mixed up. In later years the Church noticed the discrepancies between the Book of Mormon and Joseph's manuscript and thus reverted it back to what was originally translated. Basically, it was due to printer error.
