As I said in a thread before this one, ALWAYS GO DIRECTLY TO THE POLICE FIRST if you have been abused. The police are the best option, because they WILL arrest anyone if they try to interfere with the investigation and they are not bound by the policies of any organization. Because of that, there is ZERO conflict of interest, and the only objective they have is to find the truth, and to bring the guilty to justice.

The Savior had a unique role/calling that none of the rest of us are called to emulate. The same Being who counselled turning the other cheek (probably more about insult that real injury per Gerald Lund) helped the Nephites and the Israelites in battle when their cause was just. Remember what was said about the great warrior Captain Moroni - that the very powers of Hell would be shaken if all men were like him.

Richard G. Scott has said, “If you are currently being abused or have been in the past, find the courage to seek help. You may have been severely threatened or caused to fear so that you would not reveal the abuse. Have the courage to act now. Seek the support of someone you can trust. Your [religious leaders] can give you valuable counsel and help you with the civil authorities. Explain how you have been abused and identify who has done it. Ask for protection. Your action may help others avoid becoming innocent victims, with the consequent suffering. Get help now. Do not fear—for fear is a tool Satan will use to keep you suffering. The Lord will help you, but you must reach out for that help” (Richard G. Scott, “To Heal the Shattering Consequences of Abuse," Ensign, May 2008, p. 4
