Let me see if i can add to the answers already put down by others. For starters let's open up the scriptures to see what they can help us to know.

Enos 1:3 Behold, I went to hunt beasts in the forests; and the words which I had often heard my father speak concerning eternal life, and the joy of the saints, sunk deep into my heart. (keywords here; joy of the saints. I want joy and eternal life. I think you do too.)

verse 5; And there came a voice unto me, saying: Enos, thy sins are forgiven thee, and thou shalt be blessed. (How wonderful! Oh wait, but how will we be blessed if we're not going to our meetings?! Oh no! We don't want to miss out!)

verse 15; Whatsoever thing ye shall ask in faith, believing that ye shall receive in the name of Christ, ye shall receive it. (So we can ask anything from Father and he'll give it to us freely. No questions asked. And all he asks is for us to go to Sacrament and build up his kingdom in return. That's a small price to pay.)

Why do we go to meetings??

1 Nephi 1:14

...came to pass that when my father had read and seen many great and marvelous things, he did exclaim many things unto the Lord; such as: Great and marvelous are thy works, O Lord God Almighty! Thy throne is high in the heavens, and thy power, and goodness, and mercy...

Interesting...we see that Lehi and Nephi were being mentored by the Lord. They knew his power, his goodness, his mercy...and they'd even been so close to him as to not be able to put into words effectively. So we go to meetings so we can be mentored in love through our eternal family. And then as we get more loyal and help others we find ourselves getting closer to the Lord.

Psalms 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

The same principle we see. The Lord is so good and mentors us so well. He cares about us, and all he asks in return for the prosperity he freely gives us is to care for others. We do this by going to Priesthood and Relief Society to both serve and be served, and learn to how to serve. In short, to learn how to become a Zion people.

Is that really that important?

Moses 7:18 And the Lord called his people Zion, because they were of one heart and one mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there was no poor among them.

4 Nephi 1:3 And they had all things common among them; therefore there were not rich and poor, bond and free, but they were all made free, and partakers of the heavenly gift.

Wow, according to this its super important that we care for one another. According to this he will open up his spirit among us so well that if we are trying to be a Zion people, (which comes from going to meetings and being around other faithful people...) then we can prevent someone from going hungry! We can stop people from being poor or suffering! We can be real brothers and sisters because (no poor or rich among us) all are free!

Wow.

That's special. I hope people can appreciate how wonderful it is to believe that people everywhere can help each other and that through going to our meetings we can learn to love one another more fully, care for one another, and be worthy of Christ's love.

I think the only hard part is i wish we didn't have early morning meetings...Oh dear...but that's just me having a hard time waking up on Sunday.
