I'd like to invite Dan to read the book "Saint Behind Enemy Lines" by Olga Kovarova Campora. Yoga is what brought Olga and many of the new generation of Czech saints into the Gospel while the Iron Curtain was still up. God uses many ways of lifting His children and bringing them back to Him.

If you have a strong testimony and are well versed in the scriptures, you can find some wonderful commonalities. Believe it or not there have been Christian yogis. We are supposed to seek after whatever is lovely or of good report, I wouldn't be afraid of it.

When I'm not pregnant, yoga is one of a few sets of exercises I can do safely because I have health issues that make my exercise limited. I use yoga to think about the wonderful promises of the Atonement, the Plan of Salvation, and for prayer.

Yoga is a part of religious practices to other faiths, certainly, but in the West it's more of a meditative health thing. As for chakras, there's actually science to back that up - the flow of energy in the body being connected to certain pressure points, etc. is being researched extensively. These things only have as much meaning as the individual puts into them.

God has revealed himself to different cultures in different ways. We are to seek after things that are lovely or of good report. There are some truths, some commonalities with yogic teachings that if one is careful, we can see that the same God is behind it all. If you are curious, Google some articles by Phil McLemore. Also M. Catherine Thomas has written a few books that are very deeply spiritually uplifting that remind me of some yoga teachings but she is quoting LDS scriptures and prophets. She is a retired BYU professor of ancient scripture so she is a real scholar who can see the big picture.
