I'm sorry but I do not agree with you on this, Gramps. There are quite a few statements given by multiple Presidents of the Church that say it will come back. Animal sacrifice is not a part of the Law of Moses. We read in Moses 5 that Adam was commanded to do animal sacrifice. This is before Moses.

Douglas, I am sorry to hear that such doctrine would make you feel inclined to leave the Church. This is God's Church, not ours. Because you do not understand animal sacrifice does not invalidate the entire Church. I first learned that there will be animal sacrifice in a class at BYU-I. My professor started the class by asking "do you feel like you can accept modern-day revelation?" I am sorry to put this bluntly, but your testimony must not be very strong if revelation given by the Church, to help bring us closer to Christ might I add, will drive you away from the Church. I understand your hostility towards animal sacrifice because it is "taboo" in our time.

Joseph Smith said: "It will be necessary here to make a few observations on the doctrine set forth in the above quotation, and it is generally supposed that sacrifice was entirely done away when the Great Sacrifice [i.e.,] the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus was offered up, and that there will be no necessity for the ordinance of sacrifice in future; but those who assert this are certainly not acquainted with the duties, privileges and authority of the Priesthood, or with the Prophets.

The offering of sacrifice has ever been connected and forms a part of the duties of the Priesthood. It began with the Priesthood, and will be continued until after the coming of Christ, from generation to generation. We frequently have mention made of the offering of sacrifice by the servants of the Most High in ancient days, prior to the law of Moses; which ordinances will be continued when the Priesthood is restored with all its authority, power and blessings.…" Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, 172-173; History of the Church 4:210-212.

Joseph Fielding Smith Jr. said :"The sacrifice of animals will be done to complete the restoration when the temple spoken of is built; at the beginning of the millennium, or in the restoration, blood sacrifices will be performed long enough to complete the fulness of the restoration in this dispensation. Afterwards sacrifice will be of some other character."Joseph Fielding Smith Jr., Doctrines of Salvation, 3:94.
