Remember the suffering in the afterlife if we are not goosestepping in perfect lock step with the church will be eternal. An eternal life separated from our families living in perpetual servitude to those to did goosestep and conformed. So we are taught this whole time is not about being happy, its about proving ourselves worthy and preparing for the next life. Scripture tells us most wont make it, so its imperative we conform in all aspects of life, or the suffering here will seem like a 2 second event.

I, too, have a hard time witnessing all the horrific things that happen in the world, especially to children. I take comfort knowing that this mortal life is just an eyeblink in eternity. I know that there are pains and sufferings that I have experienced in my life that I can’t even remember now or that seem not nearly as bad as they did at the time, and I imagine that our eternal experience might be similar.
