My non-member doctor told me he knew I was LDS because he saw my garments as he does with other members of the church. If I change clothes in a gym people will see me change into or out of them before sports or workouts. In one area of my mission we were instructed to have all our laundry done by local women who did bulk laundry and folding got save us time and to contribute to the community, none of them were members but all would see, wash, and fold our garments. None of these things are always comfortable to me. But I am reminded the have told to let our light shine on a hill not hidden under a basket. When people see my garments I can remind them that although them may be different than what they wear to please be respectful in the way you would a priest's collar, or a Hasidic Jew's head coverings or robes of some other beliefs. They generally understand and are respectful after that when they see it is important to me.
