You are using the scriptures as though they explain scientifically all the things of the creation. The scriptures do not. People need to stop using the scriptures as a science book. Modern protestants claim the bible is inerrant. It is not. It is full of mistakes, timelines that don't match and stories that are simply untrue, because they are stories and were always stories. They were written as stories. The bible is for spiritual development. Stop claiming the bible is a science book. It is not.

You are so concerned with the inerrancy of the bible and other scriptures that you will go to great lengths to apply science to prove its truth. A game you cannot win. Because the scriptures were never intended to be used in this manner. They were intended to teach moral values and provide spiritual strength. The story of Noah is just that, a great story. But Noah and his family, as presented in the bible, did not exist. The flood story is much older than the time the story is presented in the bible when Noah lived. The flood story was included in the biblical writings and Noah and family were inserted in for the main characters. Brigham Young even claimed that the curse of Cain continued through Ham and he used it as justification for the priesthood ban. Such nonsense. However, the fact that the flood story is not literally true does not take away its spiritual value. The same with Adam and Eve. It is not a literal story. It is allegory to explain life.

I think it is awful that we teach these stories as literal to our children. I think the bible should be taught as it was intended, a spiritual guide, not a science book.

You have your nose so deep in the Church that you cannot see that science is revealing how God created the earth. How God created Man. God is revealed in the very small. Did you ever consider that God is presenting himself in revealing the secrets of the universe through the gifts of some very, very bright people. Everyone is capable of receiving revelation and guidance. Did you ever consider that some of the brightest minds are showing the world a very small view of the creation. A view into the codes of how life works.

I believe in the bible for exactly what it was intended to teach me. It is for my spiritual growth. And in those scriptures that we hold so dear, it tells us to seek knowledge. Have you ever considered that a genetic scientist or a astrophysicist is doing exactly that, seeking to really understand how it works?
At one time I though religion became disappointing. But it is not religion that is disappointing, it is the Churches that are the disappointment.
