It is written in the History of the Church that when Joseph was finished with the plates, he returned them to the Hill Cumorah and the hill opened up and there was a small room that was filled with more plates and there was a table in the middle with the sword of Laban laying on it that was unsheathed. And the angel told him that it will remain unsheathed until the purposes of the Lord have been fulfilled. It was in this room that Joseph left the plates until the time when the Lord shall allow for the remainder of the plates to be given to his people. Why should He do so now when a lot of us have been careless in our reading of what has already been given to us ???!!!!!!!!!

Not inside "some superior being's head." Just like your dreams, it all takes place in YOUR "advanced self's" brain.

How is that so hard to believe? Current technology has already proven that such things are not only possible, but are already happening.

"Sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

"In response to your question about an official position the Church has taken. At this time, I’m unaware of any."

The official position of the Church is to leave these questions to be answered by local authorities. Thus, local authorities excommunicated me for apostasy for believing in The Sealed Portion: The Final Testament of Jesus Christ. The only modern-day "prophet, seer and revelator" to address this question head-on is Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, who told Ida Smith, a decendent of Hyrum Smith, Joseph's brother, that the translator of the Sealed Portion was a "whacko."

I believed in the writings of this "whacko," and I will spend a thousand years in hell and end up in the least of our Father in Heaven's kingdoms because of my belief.

I'm ok with this, because this "whacko's" words have brought me peace, joy, happiness, content, empathy and compassion, which emotions I did not possess before. I am awaiting a possible opportunity to meet with Elder Holland, the prophet, seer and revelator who would most likely try to set me "straight."

Gramps,

You said in your response that "anyone claiming to have translated them would clearly be a suspicious individual in that regard." Did you or do you have the same suspicion for Joseph Smith, since he made even more miraculous claims than Mr. Nemelka?

It didn't take long to discover the origins of the book by Christopher Nemelka. He states that his grandfather and Joseph Smith appeared to him in the Salt Lake Temple while he did rounds as a security guard. It is sad to see the extent the Adversary is fooling people. Mr. Nemelka states in the book that the Prophet Joseph Smith reached out to help him up after he lost consciousness upon the vision. But he states that the Prophet Joseph grabbed him by the hand and helped him up. So that means that Joseph would violate his own words found in D & C 129 about how to detect a false spirit. Joseph has appeared to other(s) since his Martyrdom and never did he violate his own instructions. One of those he visited was an acquaintance who needed to be ministered to by Joseph. He did visit her and when she reached out to shake his hands he and the personage with Joseph just looked at each other and left without any physical contact. It is contrary to the laws of Heaven to have a ministering spirit be deceptive, and since Joseph has not been Resurrected (They have done studies on his corpse) it is safe to say he could not have reached out to help another up at all -- he would never be deceptive.

If you're talking about Christopher Nemelka, I can tell you for sure he did NOT translate the sealed portion of the plates or anything else. You only have to open his book and you will see that it is a fraud. While he is clever enough to use much of the terminology of the Book of Mormon, it sounds wrong. The way the Book of Mormon grammar reads is much different and why it can't be a translation. You will also notice even the Bible reads more like the Book of Mormon than this guy's bunk. Remember, what God says to one he says to all, and, therefore, the words should be the same, NOT different. It's also hard to stomach even Hyrum Smith's great-great granddaughter, Ida Smith, was excommunicated for apostasy due to this guy being able to deceive her.

In 3 Nephi 26:9 it also reads this:

"And when they shall have received this [the Book of Mormon], which is expedient that they should have first, to try their faith, and if it shall so be that they shall believe these things then shall the greater things be made manifest unto them."

I wish we could say that we as church members are being faithful, but so many of us don't even read the Book of Mormon. And when President Monson has to come out in the priesthood session of general conference and say, "If you have not read the Book of Mormon, READ IT," I don't think he's saying it just for kicks.

In fact, in 3 Nephi 16:10 it pretty much spells out where this is going:

"And thus commandeth the Father that I should say unto you: At that day when the Gentiles shall sin against my gospel, and shall reject the fulness of my gospel, and shall be lifted up in the pride of their hearts above all nations, and above all the people of the whole earth, and shall be filled with all manner of lyings, and of deceits, and of mischiefs, and all manner of hypocrisy, and murders, and priestcrafts, and whoredoms, and of secret abominations; and if they shall do all those things, and shall reject the fulness of my gospel, behold, saith the Father, I will bring the fulness of my gospel from among them."

Now if the people of Nineveh can repent after Job prophesied to them, hopefully, we can do the same and not be as stiff-necked as the children of Israel and bring down the condemnation of God upon us. Luckily for us, we are reading about Ezra Taft Benson this year and one of his main focuses was on the Book of Mormon. The late prophet also has this to say about it:

"There is a power in the book which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist temptation. You will find the power to avoid deception. You will find the power to stay on the strait and narrow path."

Now if anyone in the church is hoping not to be deceived by the craftiness of men, I think they had better start or continue an honest study of the Book of Mormon, because as it says in Mark 13:22:

"For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect."
