If two adult love each other, with or without children , and they are raising those children in love then what on earth are we doing trying to break that family up and in doing so hurting all parties. Jesus told us clearly that of all the commandments, love was the greatest. I think there is a risk here of belieiving as the Philistines did that the law and synagogue rules were all that mattered and Jesus showed them in many different scriptural examples that this was not the case.,

True conversion comes from within. The Church should introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people regardless of their living situation. Whether these people respond positively will be up to them. If these people become truly converted they will change their lives accordingly.

But I think this is similar to when Christ spoke to the young rich ruler(Matt 19:21). ‘If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor… and come and follow me’. Their lifestyle is tantamount to the richman’s lifestyle. I think each person, has to discover what their personal ‘riches’ are and give them away to follow Christ.

Todd Christofferson’s brother Tom is gay and in a partner relationship just like the question above. I have heard he also wishes to join the church, as well. You might send a letter to Elder Christofferson’s office and ask him his take on the matter. It’d probably be pretty enlightening, since you have one of the apostles who has been dealing with this exact same issue in their family for many, many years.
