I first had it as a 3 year old child and have had several incidences over the years. I am now getting on for 70 by the way.

It happened most often when I was getting too much sleep, when I was lazy and just laying in bed all afternoon. You strain to move even just your little finger. With extreme effort I was able to break out of it. I think it is frightening because we feel trapped and vulnerable, and cannot move. I’ve also heard others say that this is a preliminary condition people experience right before they have an out of body experience. Which is something our church does not approve of us willfully doing, but is a practice taught by some eastern religions.
