There is scriptural evidence that at least one and possibly two dinosaur species survived the flood. Both are referenced in Job 40 and 41, where the Lord is chastising Job for a momentary weakening of faith, and pointing out several large beasts that are clearly alive at the time, and do not fit the description of anything alive today. Scientists have attempted to explain these creatures as hippos and crocodiles, but these creatures are described by the Lord as being immense in size, cannot be tamed by man, and are water/swamp-dwelling creatures that walk on land with enormous features such as having a tail as large as a cedar tree, which nothing alive today has. Further, the Lord specifies that man cannot even approach these beasts, and yet mankind has never had any problems approaching anything alive today, even with spears. Again, these now-extinct creatures the Lord was using as an example to instruct Job of his majesty were alive at the time and used for visible example.

As for the creationary periods, it is almost a certainty that each "day" is actually being referenced in the Lord's time, which actually equates to a 1,000 year period in our/earth's time measurement (see 2 Pet. 3:8, Ps. 90:4, Gen2:17 with Gen5:5, and passages such as Rev. 20:2-7, where 6 times it says 1000 years speaking of the 7th day). In this light, the creationary "periods" referenced in the temple suddenly make FAR more plausible sense scientifically and realistically, and opens the door for all previously assumed "inconsistencies" to be included, such as dinosaurs, cavemen, etc. In this light, everything suddenly clicks together and all the light bulbs come on. None I have asked in the scientific community have been able to effectively respond to this other than eventually handing me my hat and asking me to leave.

D&C 77:12 opens it up for pre-historic life before Adam. It says:

"We are to understand that as God made the world in six days, and on the seventh day he finished his work, and sanctified it, and also formed man out of the dust of the earth, even so, in the beginning of the seventh thousand years will the Lord God sanctify the earth. . ."

This verse says the earth was sanctified on the seventh day. This means it wasn't sanctified for the first through sixth days.

This verse also explains what it means by sanctified. It will be sanctified again for the millennium. When it is sanctified for the Millennium, we know it will transition from a Telestial state to a Terrestrial state.

The earth must have been in a Telestial state up until the seventh day of creation, allowing prehistoric life to be used to prepare the earth for modern life.

It is also true that matter is neither created or destroyed. The “matter unorganized” spoken of in the creation of this world could have been used many times over in creating other worlds. Christ didn’t create this world from nothing...he utilized matter unorganized and formed it into this world. This could explain carbon dating as well as dinosaurs.
