I want to point out that people are bringing this up now for a reason. You, I think didn't have any harm bringing this up. I think you are a nice person. You probably saw something in the news about possibly taxing churches and so on with some propaganda that churches weren't pulling their weight. I've seen things like this floating around facebook too. So it's not your fault you got exposed to this idea. I just want to help you see how people are tricking people with this idea.

Others are bringing it up because they want to attack the church. They are suggesting this to cover up their own stealing from the government in various political posts. The government spent our treasuries with massive corruption through most levels of the government and secret combinations. And it's starting to get out that there's no money. Where people do find money they also find it's leveraged somehow or tied up with big loans, which some of them may have balloon payments upcoming. But they know that the money has to come from somewhere and the slope is getting more slippery as the interest in their the debt they caused THROUGH THEFT grows. They know they have to make it up somewhere to cover their own shame.

So now a few people started to leak the idea that we should tax churches. They do this because they don't know where to point the finger at, and churches are one of the few groups that are responsible and still have money! This was a design by the devil to attack the church, and not just our church but other churches doing good too. They leaked it to a few people who didn't no any better with some clever illusions in their argument that churches were 'cheating' when it was actually bad politicians in the government that are cheating.

The church don't cheat.

They use as many resources as they can to help people. Everything in the church is used to bless and help Heavenly Father's children in some way. And churches are more efficient at reaching more people for less cost in both humanitarian, and normal services opportunities. One of the examples of this is if you get a chance go out to see the LDS Humanitarian Center in Sale Lake. An interesting thing about it is that the building used to be a World War 2 factory. And now it's being used to bless the poor and help them gain self sufficiency. All of us in some way are poor so we need the churches to be as strong as possible. A government help program will always leave a lot of people behind by complex rules to qualify as well, but a church based program will be better at helping anyone in need without leaving people behind. So yet again, we see that Christ's servants will try to help everyone they can, not just a few elites.

I would also point out that government and corporation sponsored help programs leak money like sieves because there are many clever ways they can legitimately steal from the pot without the IRS actually considering it stealing. One of these ways is 'administrative costs', etc.

Naturally there are some things we should beware of, and taxing churches is one of them. Think too on the fact that if we taxed the church, that would be a lot of money that would NOT go to someone in need. That means victims. A lot of them.

And in fact if you did tax churches some people argue that would mean that the normal everyday citizens would only have to pay a small tax. I saw someone trying to deceive people with numbers on this. I can assure that is an illusion that won't happen. Do you think that the government would really say that normal citizens wouldn't have to pay any taxes if all the churches were to be taxed? That's naive. They would tax both groups as much as they could. They wouldn't let either group go, but all the way up to accomplishing their designs would definitely make people THINK they could get away with having a low tax by gaining their support to getting it passed. They would then absolutely break their promise. We can also tell they'd break their promise by the way they act when dealing with non-citizens. Historically the government when addressing what they considered to be even their own people broke their promises almost every time they could. So far only two U.S. presidents have even tried to ever keep their promises out of two hundred years of them.

So the idea that we can tax churches while letting the citizens go with almost no tax is a very clever illusion that will never happen. Plus, even if they could get this idea to pass what would happen is they would just spend more, and no effect would happen because the fact is they still haven't fixed being irresponsible with what they already have first.

Congress and government, if they really wanted to fix our nation's money problems could do so without targetting churches. All they'd have to do is be united, not steal, and make every effort to get rid of corrupt politicians and thieves first, then buckle down on the table and actually get something done.

Before they can address the idea of taxing churches, it won't do any good if they don't address the bigger issue of corrupt politicians, stealing from the government first; as well as stop people from derailing the government which seems to be attacking itself.
