In the Gospel Principles book it said in ancient days prophets wore robes and carried staffs, today they wear suits and carry briefcases. The spirit hit me when I read that sentence, it’s the same thing. It’s the same calling, but these men are here in our days dispensing out the word of God to us in our generation.

One thing you have to remember is that anciently, it was very hard to travel from place to place, and from country to country. It required much time and effort. So prophets were distributed by the Lord in many different locations in order to address the need. Today, prophets and apostles can jet anywhere in the world relatively easily, and so that does not require so many to be called in the last days.

I can vouch that a Patriarch is a prophet. My patriarchal blessing contained several very specific prophecies, some of which have already come to pass.
