Emma was a woman of God who withstood heartbreaking trials involving those most near and dear. If the Lord revealed to her to stay behind, it is her revelation to which we have no right. Perhaps she wanted nothing more than to go with the Saints, and perhaps she was being obedient to the Lord by staying where she was. And perhaps it was a merciful God, who told her to rest a season where she was, knowing that she had passed the tests presented to her while the Saints were just beginning their own.

Emma had had a heavy burden over her shoulders since she got married to his beloved Joseph. She endured a lot of trials with him and her children and her neighbours. She got a lot of duties to perform and she always got that grace to accomplish them.

After Joseph died, she got to make great decisions on behalf of her children and her.

We cannot judge her; we're not entitled to do that. Nor as to judge Mother Eve about her own decisions.
