The number of hours in a ‘day’ at that time is irrelevant. Scripture says Christ rose on the third day. He was in the tomb Friday, Saturday & Sunday, thus, fulfilling Scripture. It doesn’t matter at all if there were12, 24 or any other number of hours in a day then.

Hold a gray thread and a white thread at arms length. After the sun sets and it starts growing dark watch those two threads and when you can no longer tell them apart it is a new day. Friday, and when you cannot tell the threads apart it is now Saturday. The same again and it is Sunday.

The other possibility is that our tradition is wrong in having crucifixion on Friday night and resurrection on Sunday morning.

Jeffrey Chadwick makes some good arguments for the crucifixion being on Thursday. I think you can find it in BYU Studies. Makes perfect sense. Then you don’t need to worry about days and parts of days, etc.
