In reply to Bluetahoe. No, it wasn't a reference to Palmyra churches. It was a reference to creedal Christianity. I understand that many take offense at God's words to Joseph Smith and think it's a personal condemnation of them and their fellow worshipers. It is not, of course, but that is how it is taken by many. The correct response to this is not to back off and water down the words of God, but to explain them.

Another bone of contention is the message from the Lord to young Joseph in the Sacred Grove. Joseph asked which of the churches in Palmyra he should join. The Lord answered that he should join none of them, for all were wrong. This is resented by many who hear it, because they believe it applies to all churches exept ours. It clearly was a reference to the churches in Palmyra. There is much good, and much truth in most churches, and there are many highly devout Christians not of our denomination.

Try to understand why people say and feel hostile about the church. Their feelings are important and their concerns may be legitimate.
