As I went through the repentance process as a young adult, I was lying on the living room floor one night, and the thought went through my head, "I wonder if the Lord has forgiven me." And I experienced with the most overwhelming feeling of love. There was no doubt in my mind that the Lord had accepted my repentance. Don't give up and don't leave the church. The Lord loves you.

Gramps, I am not a long time reader, but have caught a few of your Q&As. I was really touched by this one. I am a member of a bishopric in my ward and I regularly interview people for the temple. I was fascinated the first time I interviewed a sister in our ward and after answering all the interview questions appropriately, with humiliity and recognition that she was not perfect, when I asked the final question about feeling worthy to attend, she said she didn't know and wasn't sure. I said a silent prayer, and paused for a moment. Then I said "Sister, you will notice that the temple interview is not a ONE question interview 'Are you perfect?'. It is rather a 15 question interview and if we are living the commandments and doing our best, then the Lord will grant us access to the one place that will probably give us additional assistance in living his law more fully." Now, I am not espousing that anyone go to the temple unworthily, but the Temple in my mind is not the Celestial Kingdom. You do not have to be perfect to go there, I certainly am not, but I receive great strength as I try to live the commandments by attending and serving in the temple. I would suggest to your reader that he get his life back in order by going back to church. Then get a recommend to do baptisms in the temple. Just being in the house of the Lord is strengthening experience and one that will help to overcome daily challenges. Go as often as you can. This will prepare him to attend the Temple for his own. Hope this helps as well.

Keep up the magnificent work. I am struggling with overcoming a problem that seems so simple yet is keeping me from the temple. I was baptized at fourteen and have yet to get clean enough to be able to enter the temple. Pray for me gramps...
