I think that's the key: if you felt peace about SEEKING to marry her, there is no guarantee you will. You only have the guarantee that you are doing what God has asked you to, which is still a very good thing.
However, if you had a confirmation that you WILL marry her, then you don't need to worry that she won't, just as long as you're doing what you're supposed to be doing. Don't lose faith- continue, and God's promises will be brought to pass. It's important that you don't get discouraged: keep living and growing continually in the Gospel, and if God has made you a promise, He will keep it. "I the Lord am bound when ye do what I say,"

I've been in this position... Twice regarding potential ECs. On both occasions I got an answer that yes, they would be suitable. However, as we only have control over our own choices, we cannot expect the choices that others make to be in line with ours. And a friend of mine got a 'yes' on a few of their potentials before they finally met their spouse! Someone may well be a good match, but they still have to choose for themselves. That's life... Best wishes to you... All will be well. Take hope in the thought that you are least being told that YOU are making good decisions. It's time to worry when you pray about someone and Heavenly Father tells you to run!!!

I too have wondered a number of times why some inspiration I felt did not have the outcome I might have normally expected. I have gained a great deal of understanding for myself by watching Elder Holland's YouTube about "Wrong Roads," and then also reading his son, Matthew's, article describing the same meaningful event.
