When I use incense to cleanse my bedroom I am nit there because the smoke fills the room. I don’t use the sticks, preferring herbs and resins. I set the coals asmolder and leave the room with the windows open. By the time I get back all of the smoke has dissipated.

I burn incense to freshen up my kitchen or living room when there are strong cooking smells lingering. Too much of it can irritate, growing up Catholic at times when they got rather carried away with swinging the Incense we used to cough and sneeze but again, it was only during the Mass, so not long lasting. If someone burned incense for whatever reason for prolonged period, It would cause irritation over time but most people don’t. Far worse is car exaust fumes which are way more damaging than than incense but no one seriously expects us to give up driving because of the effects on pollutions levels.

When I was a teenager I burned incense on occasion. My mother got me some incense a few years ago that was supposed to have a Christmas scent but it didn’t have any scent so I tossed it after she passed away. Sometimes I light a scented candle and that gets rid some unpleasant odors.

Or do we want to be safe and stay as far away from the edge as possible?
