I’m not a fan of this reasoning for keeping commandments. We should never use this as our reason. I’ve heard of countless bishops and stake presidents use this to explain away questions of investigators or converts when they don’t have an answer for why we do things. They say, “Well, you wouldn’t want others to judge you, now would you?” That’s ridiculous. Those who judge without knowing the full story are in the wrong. Those are the words of the Savior. You are not sinning if others judge you improperly. I wholeheartedly disagree with the above quote. It’s pharisaic thinking, and it is not good for the body of Christ’s Church. A website whose mission is to give answers about the restored gospel should stick to giving answers about the restored gospel, not opinion.

If the brethren do not have an official position on the matter, the best course of action would be to pray and seek personal revelation from the Lord concerning the matter and do what you receive.

I’m an avid follower of Ask Gramps and have enjoyed the website. But this answer is off base.
