I could simply answer, "uh....yeaahhh...", of course looking at porn is unchaste! However, as with every form of spiritual uncleanliness, there are 'degrees'. AFAIK, no member would be tried for his/her membership solely for viewing pornography. Yet, we've been counselled over and OVER (and over, and over, and we must need further counseling, b/c the problem appears to still be rampant). to not have anything to do with it. Why?
A look into the etymology of the term may prove helpful. According to the Wikipedia article, it's comes from the Greek term, "πορνογραφία", which roughly means "A display of prostitutes". Madison Avenue hardly originated advertising. In fact, I served my mission in Italy (Roma), and we had Pompeii in our mission, but we were strictly forbidden to visit the place, though its a UNESCO "World Heritage" site. Once I saw a coffee table book depicting some Pompeian "artwork", I could see why. A story goes that SWK, sometime in the early 60's, took a European vacation, and Pompeii was on the itinerary. Supposedly he was so disgusted by the pornographic frescoes (Pompeii being sort of the Roman version of "Vegas") that he left the tour early, and declared the site a cursed place, proclaiming, "missionaries will NEVER visit this place". Later, in one of his books, he declared that Pompeii simply HAD to be destroyed, and the few accounts available indicate a rather sudden pyroclastic flow from Vesuvius, which overwhelmed the hapless inhabitants w/o warning. So, the term for 'pornography' is quite storied, and indicates that imagery is used to 'advertise', or entice those that view it to do further unchaste things. It should be obvious that in that manner does the Adversary work. I'm not saying that EVERY porn monger becomes a serial rapist or a satyr, but, if one looks at all the sadistic serial killers like Gacy or Dahmer, there was significant involvement with pornography. Just sayin.

I think we have to be careful with what is adultery. To lust after a woman with the heart, means that you desire them no matter the cost, and if it were reciprocal with whom you lust after you would enter into the physical action with them. Many who watch Pornography are addicted to the imagery and variety of action perverse yet more a twisting of the mind, where if given the opportunity to engage in these same acts, the heart would never allow them to betray whom they would never betray. The images are therefore faceless and lifeless, and cannot be a sin of the heart, because the desire came not from the heart. But from an addiction to observing the action. But what do I know.
