I need to make a comment on this because I believe that this question addresses in part the sins of children under 8 as well as children after that age, so long as the parents are responsible for their children. What children do after they leave home, typically after the age of 18, the sins committed by them rest upon their heads. Parents have no control after that point except to pass on their wisdom and knowledge to the extent that the children will be accepting.

As to convert families, I truly believe that without the knowledge of the scriptures, in or out of any church, parents should not be held totally responsible for their children's sins unless the parents had an active part in their children committing the sins.

My children, for example: Daughter had child out of wedlock while living with us. Father of child did not know of his child until 10 years later.

Son 1: Ran away from home and had child out of marriage. Denies child is his. Abandons child that is his proved by DNA. Has 2nd child out of marriage, marries, then divorces wife and has to support child. Has twins out of marriage, marries before births and still married.

Son 2: Rejects authority of school teachers and staff. Has child out of wedlock. Denies child is his ad wants nothing to do with the mother and child.

My wife and I have been married for 45 years. Never had children out of marriage. Taught our children right from wrong and encouraged them to be good citizens and moral people. Raised them in Methodist church prior to our joining LDS after our children were in their late 20's.

Our children followed the example of the friends they hooked up with in school. So we did the best we could, but they would not follow our wisdom and advice. Since our children were adults when they made their unwise choices, I do not see how we can be held responsible for their sins since we never taught them to go down the paths they selected by themselves without consulting with us.

Just my thoughts. Thanks.
