First of all, there was no big and there was no bang. Most scientist that believe in that theory believe that when the explosion took place, it came from a particle the size of a golf ball or smaller. Secondly, there was not bang because there was not oxygen necessary to make sound. Einstein did not believe in the big bang theory. He believed that the universe was eternal. To me, the amazing things is that God has so much priesthood power that he could make it happen. That every element in the universe responds to his commands. Thats amazing.

Speaking for myself, I see no conflict between the Big Bang and LDS teachings on the making of the universe.

The Big Bang attempts to explain the mechanics of it (HOW it happened). It says nothing about WHY it happened, or WHO made it happen.

LDS teachings tell us WHO made it happen, and WHY it happened. They say nothing about HOW it happened.

The one thing that mormons can say for sure is that the Savior created the heavens and the earth under the direction of the Father. The term days is not used to mean a 24 hour period. It means that there were 7 phases or 7 periods of time. As far as the big bang is concerned, who knows??
