Years ago when I was a Bishop and We were dividing my ward, the stake president and settled on a name to be the Bishop of the new ward. We sent the name to the leaders in Salt Lake City, and it was rejected and we were told that we should submit another name. We altered the boundaries by half of one street and sent the name of my executive secretary which came back "approved". This new candidate then selected the name of the rejected member as his first councilor. That was approved. That councilor severed for less than a year and then moved to Kansas. Shortly after his arrival in Kansas, his name was again submitted to SLC to be called as a Bishop and it was approved. The Lord knows what he is doing if the local leaders will listen. I may have been selfishly trying to keep my good Executive Secretary in my ward when we discovered the boundaries of the new ward needed to be adjusted slightly to put this good man in the ward he was to be Bishop. I could tell you a number of stories to show you the Lord leads this church when it comes to calling.
