Excellent answer. My mother, who was serving as the Relief Society president for the second time, left the church and now denies everything that is true. She believes in false gospel teachings of Christ and denies the power of the Holy Spirit. She was very much confused because she has a very nice Muslim neighbor and since he believes his religion is true, it must not be the Holy Spirit bearing witness. Since she believes the Holy Spirit cannot be trusted because Satan can mimic the spirit, after much study, she believes she has interpreted the Bible correctly and follows those beliefs. This was after trying to answer my former Primary president (mentioned only because presidents normally have very sold testimonies of Christ's gospel) sister became an apostate and questioned my mom, not with sincere questions, but only to trip her up. And she did. I like Gramps' answer. I will share it with my family.
