I sorta disagree with the statement that the spirit will never ask you to do something contrary to established commandments. After all, Nephi was commanded by the Spirit to kill an unconscious man. It's not completely unusual for a non-member spouse to convert; on my mission I've heard of it happening many times. That being said, what Gramps suggests is a valid possibility. To determine whether or not it's truly spiritual inspiration, 1) remove yourself from the situation; take a step back and see if the answers still feel the same. 2) combine your prayer with fasting. this really does work, and it brings a lot of clarity to your answers. 3) Go to the temple yourself. There is a special spirit there, and there comes a clarity to questions we have that can come no where else.
While all the advice we can give you may be helpful, the Bottom Line: Follow the spirit. Following the path God has for you will lead you to the most happiness for your life. You need to have confidence in the decisions you make when they are confirmed by the spirit. In the end, it's really only God's opinion that matters.
