Well, you’re entitled to your opinion. However if we are obedient to our covenants, things usually work out. To me, even though the extra layer can be a bit warm, the benefits outweigh the downside. Many times though it isn’t even an extra layer, just a layer where normal underwear would be anyway. Regarding your question about the shape, you’d have to ask those who authorize the patterns, which I don’t do. Regarding your statement about your friend’s Bishop, believe it or not, a Bishop can give out incorrect information or state an opinion and people believe it is doctrine, it doesn’t make it right however. Anyone can rationalize away an issue if they really want to. In the end it’s really up to you, will you abide by the covenants you made or not? You and you alone will be the one that has to justify your own actions come your judgement time.

Actually, some of the materials can actually reduce the heat felt by the body by wicking moisture and helping air flow under clothing, aiding in the cooling effect of evaporation of moisture from the body’s skin. Others of the materials do the opposite. You might only notice the difference after having worn it for a few weeks.

What is “so hot”? Modestly dressing is only part of the equation, obedience is the other. What do you mean by “so hot”? Where I live it is well over 100 degrees F for about 5 months out of the year and over 110 for about 3 months, yet members here, including myself, manage to wear their garments just fine without dying of heat stroke. It did take me quite awhile to get used to it, especially since I’m a convert who wore short shorts and tank tops before joining the Church, but eventually I did get used to it. Now I feel weird when I don’t wear them (such as when wearing a bathing suit). I personally like the dri-lux material.
