It saddens me to great depths to hear of such a situation whereby a woman is not satisfied to fulfill the role assigned to her by her gender. Why doesn't she accept that she cannot hold the priesthood but that she can have access to it through her husband? I think people are confusing gender identity with gender reality. She might be able to alter her gender identity but this does not mean she alters her gender reality. Regardless of whether the Church were to try and accommodate her self-imposed identity and permit her to go through all of the motions, she could not in reality hold the priesthood. Eve was taken from Adam and not the other way round. When Eve returns to Adam or when female is reunited with male, female may have access to but does not hold the priesthood. If it were any other way you would dilute and cloud the meaning of that division. If a woman wants access to the priesthood, let her find an eligible male and unite with him before and under God in a way that shows acknowledgement and respect for her origin.

I am a single man and have been forced to stay single simply because it seems the majority of women have allowed the forces of the modern world to corrupt them into having little or no respect for their origin. That women cannot hold the priesthood is an honest defense mechanism whereby an unmarried man might hold the priesthood even if he can find no woman to marry that would then permit her access to what he holds. If I join with someone who has no respect or appreciation for their origin and how they came to be, I am entirely deserving of the hardships and troubles that would come from such a broken attempt at unification. Females who are of the world and who have no respect for their origin used to be satisfied with gaining access to the priesthood by tempting the holder into union with them so that the priesthood benefits would enrich them with worldly things. This is an example of how priesthood can disintegrate into priest-craft. Some are no longer satisfied with this kind of access, it seems, and so now they try and justify a supposed right to hold the priesthood themselves since even access is now more and more limited. In reality, they only push themselves farther away from it by demanding a right to hold it themselves. In doing so, they also forget they can have access but even access is a privilege of those who are willing to be obedient, not so much to their husband who can be corrupted himself, but obedient to God under which both male and female must, among other things, have respect for their origin.

Among the commandments is "Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee." Your father and mother also did they have a father and mother right the way back to the division of Adam to the division of Eve from Adam. So, being obedient to this commandment is much broader than just honoring the previous generation since you cannot fully honor them without honoring their origins as well. For a woman to alter her gender identity in an attempt to hold the priesthood shows that she not only has no regard for this commandment in relation to her own parents but also no regard for every generation that came before. The obvious natural consequence is that her line will be terminated by her own choice of disobedience. Also, when you consider that these commandments are directed at all of Israel collectively and not just the individuals that make it up, disobedience also has the consequence of not only ending of the line but also removal from Israel.

At the very least, if she could repent and accept the atonement, she would therefore be permitted to return. Sadly, the motive or desire that causes one's departure is oblique to the atonement that would permit them to return.
