I love going to church on vacation! You meet so many wonderful people and get to experience the spirit and members of the church in so many different ways. It broadens my perspective of church culture in other communities and it deepens my testimony. I've met new converts and heard their stories, met people who have repented of really bad sins, one guy even sat down to give his talk because he was so nervous lol. I've learned so much about Christ and seen for myself how He is everywhere. Just wonderful!! :)

That's a question I've stopped to consider before as well. I'm not an authority on the topic, but my personal conclusion was inspired by the adage that if the ox is in the mire on any day including Sunday, pull it out, just don't push it in the mire. An essential part of keeping the Sabbath day holy is attending church. Can we afford a vacation from partaking of the Sacrament, or from fellowshipping with the Saints in the second and third hours? If we see attending church as going on a refreshing vacation from temporal affairs, then perhaps it fits in quite nicely with our trip away from home after all.

I have often visited Jackson, Wyoming on vacation. They even have a special Sacrament Meeting for tourists there, and it is usually packed. I attended church once in London, and I remember how packed the Relief Society room was. When the Relief Society president got up to start the meeting, she said, "I know most of you are used to having visitors introduced. We don't do that here. Let me demonstrate why. How many of you are visitors?" Probably 3/4 of the women there raised their hands. So people do go to church on vacation. On the other hand, if you are on a tour, you kind of have to keep whatever schedule the tour has, which might not allow you time for church on SUndays.

We always make an effort to go to all three hours of church when on vacation. I want my kids to realize that it's a priority no matter where we are. We may end up at church in flip flops or tennis shoes (because who wants to pack a whole bag just for church shoes?!) but we will be there! When we have our extended family reunions my grandma will call ahead and let the local branch know that there will be an extra 80 people in attendance and offers to help in any way we can.
