You said "that God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ personally appeared to Joseph Smith, and that subsequent to that marvelous visitation the Savior appeared on several occasions to Joseph Smith and several of his associates."

Where can I find who exactly visited Joseph Smith?

Larry

Dear Larry,

The first visit of the Father and the Son to the Prophet, Joseph Smith, took place near the village of Palmyra, New York in the spring of 1820. It is recorded in some detail in the Mormon scripture called The Pearl of Great Price. Since it includes several pages it is a bit too voluminous to reprint here. However, it could be found by contacting the local Mormon missionaries in your area.

The Doctrine and Covenants, another Mormon scripture, records in the Section 110 the appearance of the Lord, Jesus Christ to Joseph Smith and his companion, Oliver Cowdery in the recently completed Mormon Temple in Kirtland, Ohio on April 3, 1836. In this scripture the Prophet Joseph gives a detailed description of the Savior in the following words:

The veil was taken from our minds, and the eyes of our understanding were opened. We saw the Lord standing upon the breastwork of the pulpit, before us; and under his feet was a paved work of pure gold, in color like amber. His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair of his head was white like the pure snow; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun; and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great waters, even the voice of Jehovah, saying: I am the first and the last; I am he who liveth, I am he who was slain; I am your advocate with the Father. Behold, your sins are forgiven you; you are clean before me; therefore, lift up your heads and rejoice.

In addition to the appearance of the Savior, Joseph and Oliver were also visited on that occasion by Moses, Elias and Elijah, each restoring precious gospel keys to the two supplicants. Other angelic personages visited the Prophet Joseph on other occasions, teaching him eternal truths and revealing to him the will of God in the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This gospel is encompassed in the teachings and doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
