As if it was a complete fabrication on his part. The real truth is, that having seen the Masonic rituals, he went and inquired of the Lord about them, and was shown by revelation that those rituals were corrupt vestigal remnants left over from centuries ago when the temple endowment was had in its purity. As part of the restoration of all things, Joseph was given the true order of these things, and restored them to their original form. That’s why the temple endowment shares a few similar features with the Masonic rituals.
