While speaking to us missionaries in a closed meeting he told us that while he was in Valparaiso, a city on the central coast of Chile, he was walking along the shore with several local church leaders. He stopped suddenly and turned to the sea. After a long moment without speaking, he turned to the local church leaders and proclaimed, &quot;Brethren, the soil upon which we walk is holy ground.&quot; &quot;Why is that?&quot;, they asked. Elder McConkie responded confidently, &quot;This is where Lehi landed.&quot; So the scholars were right. Lehi and his family landed on the west coast of South America, specifically, the central coast of today&#039;s country of Chile.]]></description>
