We have the affluent and the very poor. The connection is service. If you are exceedingly rich, your job is to bring up and assist those without, it’s the fundamental teachings and examples in the church. Do as Christ would. Christ taught us to do unto others. The greed of many of those with money (where they spend it on material things, etc.) and the influence of Satan masks that much is given, much is required aspect. Since man has no knowledge of his purpose when he comes here or the promises he made to Heavenly Father when he elected (he being used generally, not excluding women); if he did; to be rich on earth. Not saying all rich are greedy, many in church are rich but the difference is, they know where the money came from and give as freely to those without. It would make sense then, that for as many as there are rich, there are poor so that it evens out if the rich do as Christ would (and the church has).

Good post, Just to add to the answers.
Read up on your family history first.How did your own forefathers live, a reflection of who they where!. Read a part in the missionary pamphlet intittled- The Plan of Salvation.In the Premortal existence we formed…. what did we form now? We came here to receive flesh and bone so to speak oh and a mortal existence; we are all supposedly the mortal selves of our pre- life.we are the after part that was before. Have a read in that pamphlet

There are many ideas about the “why” of it all, but let me point out one scripture where Jesus says:

“For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.”

My interpretation of this is our Heavenly Father is constantly giving us an opportunity to prove if we will serve our fellow man and bless their lives.
