The question should be why was the comma added to D&C 89:13, and why hasn’t it been removed if it is incorrect or misplaced. Might it have been added to clarify rather than to confuse the verse.

I read D&C 49:18 as saying that those who forbid man to eat meat, are not of God. It doesnt’ say that man should eat meat in abundance. In fact D&C 49:21 says “And wo be unto man that sheddeth blood or that wasteth flesh and hath no need.” In essense, eat meat if you must; those that forbid to eat meat are not of God.

I would follow up this discussion with the question of will there ever be a time when man will not eat meat?
