What's amazing is there are STILL men in the Church in 2017 who will use this as to why women should not teach, and they're militant about it!

Someone important to me was told by a friend that the scriptures forbade women from speaking in church. The same individual stated that scriptures supported slavery. I, the person whom I am, never advocated either of these positions. An earlier article about scriptures and slavery helped me figure some of how to respond to the statement about slavery. The person who quoted both the statement about slavery and the statement about women was hostile to the LDS church, and to other churches as well.

A very good article. So many things that are quoted by others from the bible forget the context and history. And many often use scriptures, not to teach others, but to condemn others. When I see scriptures quoted by people, if the scripture is quoted to support a hateful behavior or condemn others, I move on. Life is too church to listen to people that want to use their bible to beat others down. Women are equal to men in every way. I do not need scripture to tell any thing different from that. I can use own mind and experience. Women and Men are equals. They should be respected, valued, paid the same and have the same opportunities in leadership, both in society and in their Church.
