As we approached the redesign of Ask Gramps it was important to us to stay true to the origins of gramps while implanting a fresh redesign of the site. We strived to express the empathetic nature of gramps, while at the same time, illustrate the wisdom and knowledge that has left thousands of viewers coming back for more. Follow our process below illustrating the step by step process to the face of Gramps.
Illustrating Gramps was like searching for the man who started it all. We had to find the expression that told the story of a good man who was full of wisdom and love.
There were a series of sketches done to find a scene depicting the kind of place most of us want to go to find an answer.
There are a thousand different ways to draw him, and just as many opinions and bits of feedback given by those who feel they know who this man was and should be. We hope this illustration exemplifies the man we all know as Gramps.
