Is there any doctrine or scripture saying we are accountable for our actions in our dreams? I pray that I don’t have dreams that go against the Lord’s commandments but they still happen.
Our dreams are an array of thoughts, images, and emotions we have experienced. In scripture we have been taught, and some have experienced, how God actually communicates to his children through their dreams.
Lehi dreamed a dreamed that a caused him to leave Jerusalem. He dreamed a dream teaching his children about the “tree of life.”
Joseph in Egypt was able to interpret dreams which were given by God. When a dream is given by God, then it would appear in answer to your question, yes we are judged or receive consequences if we do not follow them.
However, not every dream is given or induced by our belief in God, and it is solely due to our neurology. When a dream is due to our neurology I don’t believe we will be accountable before God for these dreams, and I am unable to find anything in scripture that says we are accountable to God for our dreams.
One thing however to note, our dreams are often a reflection of what we have been thinking upon, or an event in our life that has highly affected our emotions.
