Gramps,

I am Elder’s Quorum President and am looking for different callings for the group. We have the Counselors, Secretary and Greeter and Teacher. Any suggestions?

Thank you and I enjoy Mormon Town.

Jim, from New York

Dear Jim,

In addition to assignments to the quorum presidency and teacher, you could organize enough committees to give every member of the quorum an assignment. Let me tell you what we have done in our Ward.

The Quorum leadership defined five committees- Home Teaching, Service, Activities, Temple Attendance and Genealogy. They then passed a slip around in priesthood meeting asking each member to sign up for the committee of his choice, and then from those who signed up they appointed a chairman for each committee. I would suggest that visits be made by the Presidency to those who are not attending priesthood meeting to encourage them to also participate.

Once a quarter the priesthood meeting is comprised of committee meetings. Each group is given a different location to meet-different sections of the chapel-and are to develop plans for the next quarter. The last fifteen minutes of the meeting is reserved for reports from the various chairmen.

It works for us!
