Question

Gramos,

In Moses 3:7 “man became the first flesh upon the earth, the first flesh also.” How does one answer this question when it is well known that there were many animals of all kinds all over the earth before Adam and Eve were placed on the earth?

John

Answer

John,

The animals were called beasts, and the birds called fowls. In Biblical writing, “flesh” is referred to as the mortal state of our existence on this earth. We have weakness because of our flesh. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. These are all terms that are indicating that flesh refers to mortal children of our Father in Heaven.
