Question

Gramps,

Can there be more than one baptismal font in a temple?  I have been wondering this as of late because when I have been to the temple and have seen how busy it is, I wondered if there could be more than one baptismal font.

Answer

Dear SF,

I don’t know of any hard and fast rule that limits each temple to one baptistry. The symbol of 12 oxen is pretty standard, and having it on the lowest floor may even be considered canonical. But as with all symbols, they are amenable to practical constraints. As such, I would suppose that baptisteries, like the other ordinance rooms, could theoretically be multiplied in a temple should the need arise.
