Question
Dear Gramps,
I have a co-worker that I have been discussing religion and the Church with lately and he has many questions and ideas that are getting hard for me to answer. Last week we were discussing life after death and he believes that when we die we don’t remember our lives here on earth and that there are no feelings brought with us, like love and regret. Where can I lead him in the Bible (he isn’t ready to believe anything in the Book Of Mormon) that discusses the next life?
Jeremy
Answer
Dear Jeremy,
I wonder, when we die, if we don’t remember our lives here on earth, why there would be weeping and wailing after we have passed on because we failed to live up to our opportunities for righteousness while in mortality, as mentioned in Luke 13:28
There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
This concept of weeping and wailing after we are dead, in addition to the above reference in Luke, is mentioned six times in the Book of Matthew, i.e., 8:12; 13:42, 13:50; 22:13; 24:51; 25:30.
